Kailashahar, July 22 (TIWN): Residents of Kailashahar Municipal Council's 15th and 16th ward areas staged a road blockade to protest the lack of drinking water supply in the area. The blockade was carried out on the Paiturbazar-Dolugao road in the Durga Pur area.
The protesters alleged that the contractor responsible for the road widening and heightening work had done it in an unscientific manner without removing the drinking water supply pipes. As a result, the pipes were damaged, and the water supply was disrupted. The residents claimed that they had informed the local councilor and department officials about the issue multiple times, but no action was taken.
After about an hour of blockade, the department officials arrived at the scene and assured the protesters that the pipe repair work would start soon. They also promised to supply drinking water to the area through vehicles until a permanent solution is found. Based on this assurance, the protesters lifted the blockade.
