AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Congress MLA Gopal Roy on Sunday slammed the BJP-led State Government for imposing Smart Meter on the common people. Addressing the media during his visit to his own constituency, Banamalipur, Roy alleged that people are forced to pay Rs. 10,000 for Smart Meter installation, which he said “is an unfair demand.” He was visiting Ward No 22, and said, “I have been visiting various wards here --- water crisis continues, electricity bills skyrocketed, gas price is high, collection of Rs. 10,000 for Smart meter is unacceptable --- West Bengal is refusing to pay Rs. 10,000 for the meter, but here, they are asking Rs. 10,000.”
“With a heinous intention, my MLA fund’s money that I gave is not being utilized,” alleged Roy further.
He also criticized the state government over local roadway conditions, unemployment issues.
Roy demanded that the order of the Smart meter and consequently the imposition of Rs. 10,000 should be withdrawn immediately.
