SABROOM, Nov 13 (TIWN): Renowned contractor Mridul Janapati's Feni Bridge Barrage construction site was raided by TSECL officials, who seized equipment used to steal electricity via hooklines. The project, worth Rs. 10 crores, involved constructing boulders along the Feni river bank. Electricity department officials acted on long-standing complaints about power theft at the site. Senior Manager Afruchi Mog asked Janapati to produce legal papers justifying the unauthorized electricity uses.
Janapati claims to have paid for the electricity, but Mog remains skeptical, stating, "Let's see what documents he can show. If needed, legal actions will be taken against him."
“He (Mridul Janapati) is saying, he paid for it but I don’t know, how does that work,” added Mog.
The construction work has been going on in Ward No-1 for the Feni river.
The workers on the spot told the media that the current is taken from the main line.
Water motor, and vibrator like machines were run through the hookline.
