Agartala, February 1 (TIWN): People belonging to the needy section of two thousand twenty seven families will be provided with housing facilities in as many as four towns of the state. Under Government of India’s Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojna flagship programme Amarpur, Sabroom, Khowai and Kumarghat are the places concerned. The project is primarily for the people living in the slum areas. Proposal was sent to Government of India (GoI) for Kailasahar too but only four cities have been approved. Besides, 978 families will get developed sanitation facilities. Rs.3,39,000 will be spent for each of the houses where the entire project would involve a fund disbursement of nearly rupees sixty nine crore (Housing development works).And the total development work worths nearly ninety nine crore rupees.
The implementation of the development works would be made by the respective municipal councils. Here 80 % cost would be borne by the central ministry where the rest would be incurred equally by the Nagar Panchayat and the beneficiary. the first phase allotment of Rs. 29,97,000,00 has been sanctioned by the central government.
