AGARTALA, Feb 8 (TIWN): Crime Branch has lodged FIR against 10 officials of Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) including a former Ranji Trophy player in connection to financial embezzlement.
Crime Branch lodged the case under case number 120B, 409, 420.
It is suspected that crores of funds that came from the Govt fund have been looted by the Cricket Association group, who forcefully occupied the office one and half years ago.
The officials whose names have been attached to the police case are : Tapas Ghosh (Secretary, recently retired because of the upcoming election), ex-Vice President Timir Chanda, treasurer Joylal Das, Engineer Tarun Kumar Das, Engineer Anunab Nath, Engineer Rahad Sarkar, Sumanta Debroy and few more persons.
They have high political-level backing which had given them the position, even though maximum of them are not known for cricket or sports.
The arrests are speculated very soon as Crime Branch after a thorough investigation filed the case.
