AGARTALA / SONAMURA, Feb 7 (TIWN): Protesting against increasing dust pollution, local people in Soanmura blocked the road near Sonamura bridge, seeking an immediate relief from the problem. The agitated public blocked road and burnt tires. The road construction is going on for Udaipur to Simantapur route and it has been promised by Govt that the road will be constructed at international standard, but due to the ongoing construction for a long time, local people are facing problems. Many people are becoming sick.
Diseases related to the respiratory system are happening in the area due to the dust-pollution.
Many times the local people met the higher authority but no solution came out. This has forced them to launch a massive protest by blocking roads.
Soon, Sonamura SDPO, Nagar Panchayat Vice Chairman Shahjahan Mia, and Mandal President Biswajit Das reached the spot and talked to the locals.
The public was assured that every day two times, water would be thrown in the entire area. Getting assurance, the local people withdrew the blockade.
