AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): Last week, netizens roasted CPI-M party agitators after a very few number of the party members showed up before the media protesting against BJP Govt over “mosquito issues” in the Agartala city, arousing laughter among the social media users and being hit badly with trolls by the social media users. When the state is reeling under unemployment and water crisis, teachers, medical staff crisis issues and the BJP has been burdened with unfulfilled promises of the Vision Document since 2018, CPI-M leaders are in easy-chair mood, and ending party responsibilities sitting inside Melarmath Party headquarters. Sharing the same dais with former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, at Agartala Town Hall CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury criticized the CPI-M leadership, saying, the party is in crisis and failing to reach out to the common men.
The meeting was conducted on the occasion of veteran CPI-M leader, and former Deputy CM Baidyanath Majumder’s birth anniversary on Monday.
Jitendra Chowdhury expressed grief over party members’ inactive roles and said, ‘Can we say from our heart that we have not changed over time? The party is not in power, but it is not the crisis. The country is ruled by a fascist Govt and that’s also not the crisis but the real crisis will happen if we can not reach out to the common men.”
The party state secretary then mentioned, that although there are lots of reasons, why people are not joining opposition rallies amid the people resented against the BJP Govt, but there is no way to refuse CPI-M party’s failure as the opposition to unite people when the ruling BJP is weak in organizational factors and anti-incumbency is high.
CPI-M faced a significant defeat in the 2023 election, dropping from its major opposition party's position to second opposition in the Assembly after Tipra Motha. CPI-M has been facing storms of criticism for not giving chance to young generation and dominating all unions by failed leaders.
