Agartala, January 27 (TIWN): With the demand to cancel anti-farmer ordinance of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act- 2013 passed in Parliament, Tripura Khet Mazdoor Union, All India Krishak Samity (AIKS) and Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) would jointly stage a protest rally in front of the District Magistrate’s office on January 30.
State Secretary of Tripura Khet Mazdoor Union (TKMU)- Babul Bhadra said in a press conference at Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan, Melarmath that the three farmers’ front would conduct several rallies and street corners demanding implementation of Food Security Act, immediate release of REGA funds and to protest REGA curtailment policy of Central Government on February 12, next.
He further said that the unions would also conduct divisional conventions covering the homeless and homestead people by March, this year.
The unions further planned to launch massive campaign for the implementation of Food Security Act in state and would also stage protest in April, he added.
Besides, in order to spread the advance programmes, the union would hold general meetings covering all the members in unit level in February, said Bhadra.
