AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): During nomination submission process, Tipra Motha MLAs were not seen with the opposition candidate Gopal Roy although it was claimed by Congress earlier that Gopal Roy’s name was proposed by CPI-M and Tipra Motha both. Tipra Motha however was not seen with the BJP candidate either. Today morning ahead of the Assembly Speaker vote day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reportedly called Pradyot Manikya and talked to him about appointing interlocutor for constitutional solution for the indigenous people.
According to Pradyot Manikya, Amit Shah has promised to appoint the interlocutor by 27th March. Whether due to that assurance from Ministry, Tipra Motha is holding a neutral position or not, it’s not clear, though speculations are going on.
From BJP and IPFT, the BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen has submitted nomination whereas from opposition Congress MLA Gopal Roy has submitted nomination for the speaker post.
Tripura Assembly Speaker post Election to be held on March 24 that is tomorrow.
Right now total 59 MLAs are in the Assembly since Central Minister Pratima Bhowmik resigned from MLA post. Minister cum BJP’s another MLA Sushanta Chowdhury is hospitalized. It is expected that Chowdhury will cast his vote tomorrow as he is stable now. CM Manik Saha and other Cabinet Ministers have met him at ILS hospital today.
