AGARTALA, Feb 8 (TIWN): CPI-M Central leader Brinda Karat has called BJP Ram Nagar MLA Surajit Datta a ‘mafia MLA’.

She was addressing Ram Nagar constituency ahead of the Assembly poll which is going to be held on 16th February while campaigning for independent candidate Purushottom Roy Barman when she said so.

Referring instances of the previously held polls when people’s voting rights were snatched, she said, voting is each individuals right but this mafia leader has destroyed the entire area in various means. 

She compared Surajit Datta with Purushottom Roy Barman and appealed to people to vote for the human rights activist and advocate who knows laws and intends to serve the humanity.
