AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Postal Ballot voting for Tripura’s four poll bound constituencies have been started on Friday with the 80+ and physically challenged persons. Polling personal visited house to house to collect votes from senior citizens and also the persons who are physically challenged. Addressing media, SDM Ashim Saha said, “As per election commission’s new guideline 80+ and PH voters can cast votes which has been introduced in Tripura. In 6-Agartala constituency targeted voters total 80+ voters are 698 and physically challenged voters are 169. Out of them, only 291 voters said they will cast votes at home and others will go to polling stations. In the case of Town Bordowali, a total of 911 targetted voters are 80+ whereas 125 voters are physically challenged. Total of 390 voters have said they will cast votes at homes. Accordingly we are going house to house to cast votes”.
The SDM mentioned, a constant videographer will be there and record the entire polling process.
The officer further requested people to stay at homes who have registered their names to cast votes at homes or their votes will be missed. Today many people were not at home and accordingly, tomorrow the polling personnel will visit their houses but tomorrow will be the last day.
Strong rooms have also been claimed to be prepared under heavy security.
