AGARTALA, Feb 3 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday has slammed the Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder for bringing the vendors on road by snatching their livelihoods.The bamboo sellers, who are attempted to be evicted by the AMC amid High Court ordered to make their alternative arrangements, have met former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.On being asked by media, Manik Sarkar said, “Today they have met me and the papers from Court, which they have shown to me, it shows that the Court’s ordered to make alternative arrangements. Now alternative arrangements should be made in proper places. When I was a school student, the bamboo market was existing on that time too. How can the Govt take such a decision of evicting people who are traditionally working from generations there?"
“In our Govt’s time also, a problem was held but later after discussion, it was resolved. The present Govt is unable to solve people’s problems and give them livelihood but now to make parks, such inhuman evictions are happening. The AMC Mayor who won by cheating and rigging in the Municipal poll, now in this way attacking vendors and poor people”, said Manik Sarkar.
