AGARTALA, Dec 28 (TIWN): Reportedly, wild elephants have been poached in few densely populated areas at DM Colony, Krishnapur, Baluchura, and Office Tila in Teliamura for the last several days. The local affected people with families took shelter at paddy fields by pitching tents amid this cold weather. Demanding security and safety, the All India Student Association appealed to the state government and government officials to arrange a secured and safe shelter for the affected families.
The AISA organization demanded the government should take immediate steps to facilitate their repatriation.
They also demanded that all the affected families whose houses were demolished by the wild elephant herd should be repaired soon or to provide them housing under the government scheme soon. Besides, the organisation also demanded the government immediately intervene to ensure the necessary food and shelter and to drive the wild elephants out of the area.
