SEPAHIJALA / NEERMAHAL, December 28 (TIWN): In the picnic season Sepahijala and Neer Mahal , the two most popular destination for picnic lovers, are now suffering for want of tourists . Neer Mahal is going through the retrofitting phase and quite naturally tourists are not allowed to have picnic inside the palace.
Tourists can go to the palace by boat but this year due to retrofitting ' Lights & Sound Show' is postponed. It is to be mentioned here that since the beginning of 'Lights & Sound' Neer Mahal used to attract more and more tourists not only from the state but also from different parts of the country and even beyond her borders. But as it is stopped, tourists are not coming here in large numbers as they used to come earlier.
And Sepahijala is gripped under Anthrax panic. A few days before a rhinoceros died of anthrax. And even the medical reports also proved that the death occurred due to anthrax. Speaking to TIWN over phone Chief Wild Life Warden cum PCCF A K Gupta said," Medical report has already cone that revealed that the rhinoceros was attacked with Anthrax." And panic of Anthrax is the prime reason behind the reducing number of tourists in Sepahijala in peak season.
As alternatives tourist are now crowding in Tepania Eco Park of Udaipur, Trishna Wild Life Sanctuary, Kalachhera Park in Sabroom, Baramura Eco Park, Debipur Tea Garden. However, there is no doubt that due to lesser number of tourists in Sepahijala and Neer Mahal state is losing valuable revenue from tourism sector.
