AGARTALA, Nov 21 (TIWN): The Trinamool Congress leaders were stopped from campaigning house to house with the candidates at Belonia. Runu Das, president of the Belonia Mandal of the ruling BJP's Scheduled Caste, allegedly caused the obstruction. The BJP activists allegedly started pushing the candidates, including the Trinamool Congress leader.
The incident took place on Sunday morning at Ram Thakur Para in Belonia subdivision. Trinamool Congress leaders Tridib Dutta, Kajal Banik, Shyamal Som, and Kajal Banik have been threatened by BJP leader Runu Das in Belonia, as they went from house to house campaigning in support of Trinamool Congress nominee Anima Das.
It came to know that Runu Das also said that the above directive cannot be circulated here. In this regard, senior Trinamool Congress leader Tridib Dutt strongly condemned the incident and said that he would inform the Election Commission and Belonia Police Station in writing against the attempts to derail democracy.
