AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Students led by NSUI have sat in protest in Agartala on Wednesday due to long pending demands. Talking to the media an agitating student said, “Every year we get this ST scholarship even though it’s a central scheme. When asked, the authority replied that only funds for freshers came. On the other side, the Tribal Welfare Dept is showing various excuses by not giving any proper deadline to clear the stipend. They are just seeking more time, but we have our Colleges and every day it is not possible for us to come. For our deserved rights we are bound to sit in protest whether at this time we should be in our Educational institutions”.
NSUI leader Samrat Roy has accused the officials for fooling the students, expressing doubt that heavy corruption is going on.
NSUI said if the scholarship is not cleared then NSUI will organize stronger protests.
