AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): Tripura is the only state in India which has continued Corona Curfew for 2 / 3 months long without a pause yet without any positive outcome in curbing the cases. Economy is already collapsed, unemployment is record breaking and the Govt has failed to provide sufficient commodity supplies to the poor. However, following the Govt guidelines, Weekend Curfew has continued for the last 3 weeks and today is the second day of this Week's Weekend Curfew. Tight Police vigilance was noticed under blankets of tight security.
Based on that information the Bishalgarh Police and TSR Jawans raided a lorry bearing TN17AT 4858 number. During the search, 198 packets of dried cannabis were recovered from the rubber loaded lorry. According to police, the market value of the seized 3390 kg of cannabis is more than 10 crore. The driver, Silver Raju, a resident of Tamil Nadu, was arrested, said SP, Sipahijala Krishnendu Chakraborty.
The cannabis packets were being kept under a rubber seat. Despite of CM Biplab Deb's much hyped "Nesha Mukta Tripura" project, a large drug ring has been operating within the state for a long time. Now it is to see what action Tripura police takes to catch the mastermind behind this contraband item smuggling case.
Though regular raids of police is underway across Tripura and massive ganja recoveries in report but unlike other states Tripura Govt hardly is seen destryoing seized items. There are rumours that once the items are seized many times it's remobilizing in the market.
Politically influencial persons' involvement in Tripura narcotic empire at the same time is not a new allegation.
