AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Cyber crime in rise in Tripura. People have been duped of almost lakhs of rupees and there is no clue who is behind the scam. In such an incident, man from Charilam area lost Rs 26,458 after sharing OTP.
According to the details, Shimul Das, a youth from South Charilam Madhyapara area, received a call on his mobile phone at 11:45 am on Friday, saying that his State Bank account would be closed.
Later, Shimul was asked over Phone to share the OTP immediately which will come to his mobile, accordingly he shared the OTP with the fraudsters and within a while Rs 26,458 was deducted from his SBI account.
Victim Shimul was shocked and rushed to Bishramganj State Bank of India branch and spoke to the manager and submitted a written complaint to the manager of SBI.
The victim also submitted the complaint letter to Bishramganj PS with a hope to get the money back in his bank account. Now, it remains to be seen what action the Bishramganj police will take to stop such crimes and also remains to be seen whether he would get back the amount or not.
