AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): Needy students with 50% marks from Schedule Tribes (ST) category, Schedule Cast (SC) and also Other Backward Class (OBC) will get Rs. 1 Lakh for their degree completion from now in Tripura.
Tribal Welfare Minister Mebar Jamatia has announced this new scheme today.
Addressing media, Mebar Jamatia said, "Such a scheme will be first ever in Tripura by Tribal Welfare Dept. This is a one-time support system will ensure meritorious students' education continuation. Scholarship which is already ongoing will continue at the same time. In the first year, 50,000 rupees will be given and in the 2nd year 50,000 more will be given to the eligible students".
As per the guideline, minimum 50% in Madhyamik, HS exams will have to be obtained by the applicants.
For total 126 courses this one-time financial support will be given including Medical Courses like MBBS, BDS, BHMS, GNM, ANM, Paramedical Courses etc, Then in technical courses there are B.Tech, M.Tech, Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Computer etc. LLB, B.Sc, Forestry, Agriculture, Fishery etc also under the scheme.
