AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): Congress, BJP met in clash at Kailashahar centering Farmers Strike. Police controlled the situation and arrested the picketers later but stone pelting, brick pelting were reported. The agitators of the Congress party followed by the clash incident also blocked road by burning tire on roads. The issue erupted when BJP activists were trying to open various markets, shops forcefully and in front of an Industry office, when BJP and the Congress came face to face, arguments and clashes erupted. The situation is now under control. Massive strike response was received from public in support of Farmers demands across Tripura. In Agartala also the Congress party staged protest, burnt tires whereas the BJP engaged in anti-strike slogan raising. CPI-M Party has thanked people for giving huge response to the national strike. Tripura Congress has staged protest in solidarity with farmers protest.
The Congress agitators have burnt tires infront of the Post Office Chowmuhani's Congress Bhawan, Agartala. Congress also picketted in aiming to succeed the strike fully, but SP West Manik Das has told media that legal actions will be taken against the picketers. The agitators raised slogan of Modi Hatao Desh Bachao.
On the other side, the BJP has kicked off bike rallies with slogans against strike observation in Tripura and BJP backed motor units ran vehicles but numbers of passengers had been lacking in those vehicles. Farmers have been protesting the three contentious farm laws - Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 - enacted by the Centre during the monsoon session of Parliament.
