AGARTALA, Nov 24 (TIWN): On Monday afternoon, the Joint Movement Committee in Kanchanpur sat in Demonstration before SDM office. Seeking the State Government's attention on Bru settlement issue the Joint Movement Committee is continuing strike since 8 days in Kanchanpur. Yet, the government couldn't arrange a high-official meeting with them which is fueling the unrest situation of North Tripura.
While addressing media the leader of Joint Movement Committee said, "Despite of huge losses that all sections of people are facing, from Rikshaw driver to shop owner everyone is continuing the strike in Kanchanpur to ensure the minimum criteria of their survival. So that we don't have to loose our lands, that we can live here under a free sky. We don't want to be forced to leave our lands and become refugees like before. We are not against any community, religion or even the Bru people. All we are asking is the government to find a solution and not to give rehabilitation to more than 500 Bru families in Kanchanpur as this can create a massive problem for everyone here."
