AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): After students and teachers of Chelakaham school in Korbook had requested Chief Minister Biplab Deb over subject teachers crisis, he told them that till class-10 actually there is no need to appoint much subject teachers except Mathematics. Any subject can be taught by any teacher, although Mathematics is a different subject". This news has been published in widely circulated local newspapers, generated mass resentment when teaching aspirants are leaving jobless due to recruitment-crisis.

After he visited the school, students and teachers raised various issues and among them teachers crisis was an issue. The school also requested him for lack of political science teachers, but Deb clearly told them there is no need of Political science teacher as History and Geography together make Political science.  He then claimed that till Class-10 there is no need of any subject teacher except Mathematics. 

On being asked about lack of school boundary wall, he cited how Rabindranath Tagore initiated students to study under tree and how Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar studied under lightpost.
