AGARTALA, Aug 29 (TIWN): All India Democratic Women Association, Belonia branch staged protest on Friday over increasing crime on women amid pandemic. The rally was organised in a peaceful and democratic way but the Tripura police’s interfere erupted a situation of tension in Belonia.

Police allegedly charged lathi on the agitators and stopped their protest curriculum, alleged one leader. She said,”we dont have anything with the police, they are here for protecting the people and maintaining the law. Then why are they attacking on us. We understand the situation of pandemic but our question is if the BJP Mohila morcha can observe protests, celebrate different programs then why can’t we?

“in this lockdown the crime against women have increased on an alarming note.On top of that, people are dying without food and treatment, the health department of the State is crippling. But the government is not doing anything to solve any of this problems, instead they are using their bootlicker police to supress our voice. But our fight against this issues will be continued in future.” The leader added.
