AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): Tripura High Court has reportedly ordered FIR against police officials for injuring a senior political activist during a scuffle among the agitators and the police.
In brief, this incident happened on 1st June, when CPI-M’s women wing Nari Samiti by maintaining social distancing were staging protest but police in the name of Corona-Virus pandemic asked them to stop protest. When denied, a scuffle started between the opposition activists and police and few women police turned almost violent in the peaceful protest, resulting, social distancing was not maintained.
The whole incident was recorded in video. It happened on that time, when in case of ruling party, police do not take any action in the same city.
However, allegation against Mina Debbarma, DSP and West Women PS OC-Mina Debbarma had allegedly injured CPI-M leader Lipika Chowdhury, but when complained, Lipika Chowdhury’s FIR was not lodged.
Then the women leaders met SP but nothing happened, rather police filed case against few women leaders of CPI-M.
However, High Court also gave time for explanation but from Govt side after 3 days notice, no satisfactory answer could be given. However, Chief Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi has directed police to lodge FIR against police personnel.
