AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): Former CM Manik Sarkar on Wednesday has slammed the BJP led State Govt over its irresponsible attitude against public’s poverty and not supplying enough reliefs, financial supports to the containment areas and other deep rural areas amid lockdown. He has supported various ongoing protests where locals have rejected COVID-19 tests in their villages and said, “Public’s questions are valid. They are asking, where was the Govt till now, when starvation, poverty had gripped their areas ?†He exemplified how in Battala like areas, workers are returning without getting works from a long time. Sarkar said, “This is not the problem of now, but it is a problem which is being faced by Tripura people due to economic slowdown under BJP era. Indeed, public stirs are manifestation of hidden anger, no trust on the Government.
Manik Sarkar has strongly criticized the BJP led Central Govt for its mute role over COVID-19 issues in the state and poor people’s dipping livelihoods, incomes.
Raising question on PM care fund’s utilization, Sarkar said, when allegations are raising for horse trading of the MLAs, there is not enough funding to the states.
Lambasting the BJP led State Govt, Manik Sarkar asked, where was the Govt till now ? He mentioned about the rapid antigen tests throughout areas where medical teams are stopped from entering. Sarkar said, such protests are manifestations of public angers.
“People don’t have works from the pre-lockdown time and now the Govt has put the people in more troubles by not helping them enough in the Lockdown, post lockdown crisis. What about the containment zone’s people ? What have they eaten in those days, does the Govt has any concern ?”, added Manik Sarkar.
