AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN): Tripura Govt has launched a totally new scheme for the JHUMIA families, alleging a massive deprivation to them held for last 12 years of negligence.
Under the new scheme the families to be given seeds and also 6 mandays under MGNREGA which will be used for JHUM-cultivation.
Briefing media, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “The scheme named Jhum Chash Sahajya Prokolpo will help the families financially. Before 11 to 12 years Jhumia got their last paddy seeds. Now, due to lockdown, the situation of those families are under severe distress, when harvesting season is going on. When checked, it was seen that the families do not have their paddy seed”.
“Experiencing these agonies, for total 6979 families, 15 metric ton Jhum seed to be given costing Rs. 4.50 lakhs to the Govt. Total 6 mandays will be given for their cultivation purpose. Around 85 lakhs to be costed for that”, said Nath.
Recently, due to lockdown, Tripura Govt also helped the Jhumia families financially.
