Poverty gripped family sold 1-day old baby boy

AGARTALA, Jan 20 (TIWN): In another instance of poverty rattled economic conditions in the rural Tripura, an incident of baby-selling was reported once again.
The poverty gripped family of Dilip Debnath, resident of Gokulnagar, Bishalgarh is father of 2 daughters and a son.
Before one month a baby boy was born but it was attempted to be sold in exchange of Rs 2 lakhs to one Laxmi Hiran Nama at the Bishalgarh hospital.
Later, the baby was recovered by police and handedover to the mother.
The local people as well the family have blamed their massive poverty and ongoing starvation in the family which led them to sell their new born baby.
