AGARTALA, Aug 8 (TIWN): Tripura Cabinet has nodded new rule after revise in the No Detention Policy. Addressing media Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “As you know, State Govt is giving huge importance to the Education system. Among the priority sectors, Education has been the most important section. Central Govt has revised No Detention Policy and we the State Govt has decided to frame a rule for that in the cabinet. Earlier, there was no strict rule to maintain the quality of education but now there will be regular examine of the students. It will not be like passing all students without any development. In Class-5 and Class-8 there should be regular examination. If a student fails, s/he should be additional chance for re-examinationâ€. This rule is already existing in CBSE schools and now Tripura Govt has taken this rule. Ratanlal Nath also mentioned about the Right to Education that no student can be removed from the schools before completion of elementary education.
Nath also said, “It has been under rule from now all children of Class-5 and Class-8 will be permitted to sit in the annual assessment. Class-5 and Class-8 who secured with minimum qualification will be promoted to the next class that is class-6 and class-9”.
Headmaster will have special power for relaxation in the criteria of passing marks.
However, in Tripura right now teachers crisis has become a major issue.
