AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing on Monday in a workshop on "Solid Waste & Liquid Resource Management" at Agartala Town Hall has reminded the capital city’s people that the municipality drains are meant for water discharging, not for throwing garbage and plastics of houses which is leading various abnormal outcomes in the city, affecting normal lives and also reason of increasing mosquitoes.
“Public regularly complain about mosquito problems but they themselves are not taking any action to control the problem”, said Biplab Deb.
“Dirt and stock-garbage, plastics in the drains are main causes of mosquitoes. If drains were used only for water releasing of houses, then the problem would not be expanded to such a level. Due to so much garbage thrown in Agartala drains, waters get stuck and rotten items cause mosquitoes”, said Biplab Deb further requesting people to clean the drains infront of their houses, citing example of PM Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
Noteworthy, this is also another cause of water-logging in the city.
Deb further advised officials to aware people and start work on cleanliness and recycling of waste items, which also can give livelihood to people.
