AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): High Court has given verdict on Tripura University's fund embezzlement spotting Ex-Vice Chancellor Arunodoy Saha and 5 more Professors embezzled the fund.
The corruption held during tenure of Arunodoy Saha as the VC of the University. High Court has directed the professors and the Ex-VC to return the fund which was taken by them.
This verdict was earlier given by lower court, whereas the Professors had challenged that verdict in the High Court, but today High Court has also held the verdict of lower court.
In a double bench chaired by Chief Justice Justice Sanjay Karol Justice Arindam Lodh asked to refund the taken fund.
It has been known that the total embezzlement was of Rs. 3 crores whereas 1 crore was taken by Ex-Vice Chancellor Arunodoy Saha.
Allegation raised against Saha’s passed away wife in this embezzlement who was also a Professor in the Bengali Dept.
They converted their contributory provident fund into general provident fund.
The corruption took place when Arunodoy Saha was the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Now High Court has given order for recovery.
Arunodoy Saha is a top BJP leader and also State Govt has made him top layer member of various committees of Educationists.
