AGARTALA, Jan 9 (TIWN): Mobile internet and SMS service suspension have been continuing in Tripura, would not be functional at least till tomorrow midnight.
The internet banning was caused after police firing injured 6 Tiprasa youths in Jiarania on Tuesday during an agitation staged against Citizenship Bill.
Tripura was undergoing two sets of strike on yesterday, one was called by trade unions, whereas the other 11 hours strike was called by NESO, a student organization belong to regional party of the Northeast.
Both strikes were organized against Modi Govt on two different issues. BJP launched picketing against strike but when at Jirania they interfered in a road blockade called by Tiprasa students a clash was occurring almost among two groups, but police allegedly without announcement started firing left 6 injured and 1 critical.
State Govt claimed that internet and social media may halt the peace of the state and hus suspended SMS and mobile internet service for 48 hours.
