AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): With a major setback for BJP led State Govt, farmers in Tripura declined to sell products to FCI as the price benefit couldn’t attract them and already farmers are earning more than the Govt offered price.
A massive celebration-programme was dedicated in Govt’s support for the project.
Food Corporation of India FCI had started the procurement of paddy from the farmers at a minimum support price, but with a jolt when the target was to procure 1000 MT paddy in two phases from Sonamura farmers, only 235 MT could be procured at the initial stage.
Earlier, opposition CPI-M protested against the FCI offered price saying it’s not even valuing the costing charge of the famers' products.
