AGARTALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): Tripura on Tuesday night celebrated the New Year with pomp and enthusiasm. Since afternoon people with family, friends went out of home and celebrated the new year day.

At the stroke of midnight, celebrations broke out in Agartala and other smaller towns, Udaipur, Amarpur, Kailashahar,Dharmanagar.

Youngsters burst firecrackers and danced to the popular numbers to welcome the New Year.

Despite police restrictions, they were seen roaming around on the bikes with many of them riding triple in violation of traffic rules.

"Happy New Year" rent the air as the revelers greeted each other on roads, hotels and other venues of the New Year parties.
