AGARTALA, September 18 (TIWN): The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) recently cleared the plea of denotifying 12.4 Km of forest land area in the Trishna wildlife sanctuary following a proposal for de-notification was approved at the last cabinet meeting, Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia said today.
Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here this evening, Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia said that the proposed Agartala-Sabroom railway route currently doesn’t have any more major problems.
General Manager (Construction) of NFR Rajesh Kumar Singh recently visited ongoing construction work of track laying and civil works in the 44 Km segment between Agartala and Udaipur. The work is expected to be completed by March, 2015; the entire track length would be constructed in Broad-Gauge (BG) format.
Some land owners, reluctant to give up plots even after receiving compensation by the district administration, reportedly cleared objections under pressure of the local administration.
Work along the track length of Udaipur-Sabroom segment of 70 Km is currently under progress as well.
Forest Minister Jamatia today further said that 61 casual labourers serving at Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary would be regularized as permanent labourers. The last cabinet meeting resolved to give a one-time relaxation to most of them who exceeded the permissible upper age limit of 35 years for the posts.
