AGARTALA, Aug 23 (TIWN): With a jolt of gender-based discrimination, IPFT-Tipraha has demanded a new bill which will not recognize a tribal woman as ST anymore if she marries / or already married to other community's man. IPFT-Tipraha leader Budhu Debbarma has demanded this on the occasion of statehood demand day, whereas he didn’t had any problem if men in the tribal community are married to non-tribal women. According to Budhu Debbarma as soon as a girl marries to non-tribal she must be outcasted from ST community legally as it has been seen even though they are married to non-tribals but enjoying all benefits, business without taxes. Addressing media, Budhu Debbarma said, “We’r celebrating this day as this is the day when the 6th schedule bill was passed in Parliament. From that day we are observing this day. The tribals in Tripura day by day becoming from 'minority' to 'least-minority'. So our demand is to create a Tipraha (new state) with the 6th schedule areas. It has to be given soon or we’ll be continuing our movement. Another issue is the ST women who have married with non-ST they should be out from ST status".
IPFT-Tipraha demanded, in the Assembly a new law should be immediately implemented for that so that Tribal girls who are married to Non-Tribals can be removed from ST facilities.
"At Meghalaya also same going is to happen with Kashi women. But here, ST women after marrying non-ST people are enjoying all the benefits and not giving taxes", Budhu Debbarma added.
Budhu Debbarma also claimed, "Above 1 lakh people in Tripura are foreigners which had come out earlier by election commission. So, we IPFT Tipraha also demand the NRC’s implementation in Tripura", slamming IPFT (main) President NC Debbarma saying, "They (IPFT-main) have fooled tribals in the name of Tipraland but in reality neither Tipraland nor NRC they want.
