AGARTALA / DHAKA, September 17 (TIWN / bdnews24):The Rapid Action Battalion has seized them from an area where the base of the now-weakened All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) was located . The Rapid Action Battalion said more weapons have been found from Satchharhi forest in Sylhet’s Habiganj.RAB-9 Srimangal Camp Commanding Officer Mosabbir Hossain said they recovered the weapons from a bunker at the forest’s Tripura Palli. After the latest seizures, Hossain said, the elite force intensified their operation in the area on Wednesday morning to ferret out more weapons that might be concealed there. RAB media spokesperson Wing Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan will provide details at a press briefing in Satchharhi at noon. Earlier, the elite police unit on Sept 2 said they found small weapons and ammunition in a container buried underground in the jungles that falls under Habiganj’s Chunarughat.RAB then said the hardware in the Satchharhi hills were similar to those from the 10-trucks haul and to an earlier arms recovery at Bogra in 2003.
Before that, on Jun 3, a large amount of weapons stored in bunkers dug deep in hillocks inside the forest, were found barely three kilometers from the border with India's Tripura state.
The recovery at Satchharhi in June was perhaps the single biggest case of arms seizure since the 2004 Chittagong arms case.
