NEW DELHI/GUWAHATI (TIWN): Department of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will assist the North Eastern Frontier Railway(NFR) to set up rail connectivity in the north-eastern region with Bangladesh. While divulging the performance of the NDA Govt for the first 100 days DoNER Minister Gen(Retd) VK Singh told," My ministry will help NFR to set up railway connectivity in the region with Bangladesh."
Stressing the importance of proper rail connectivity in the NE region VK Singh said," Earlier rail connectivity was there between Tripura and Bangladesh. And now we will have to restore it. " VK Singh also highlighted the importance of the construction of a bridge over Feni River in Sabroom, South Tripura to get get access of the Chittagong Sea port for carrying goods and heavy machinery for the land locked northeastern states.
It is to be mentioned here that in a recent meeting with the DoNER Minister Gen(Retd) VK Singh , Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar too requested him to talk to Bangladesh Govt to restore rail connectivity with the neighbouring country.
