AGARTALA, September 6 (TIWN): The real picture behind the hyped public healthcare of Tripura was exposed on Saturday after the struggling old structure of apex hospital gave away and a hospital staff was injured from a large chunk of construction debri that fell off the roof in the Anesthesia room.The chunk of concrete fell off from the roof; the room is a part of the hospital’s old building, a highly placed source in the GBP Hospital said today.The incident could have led to larger magnitude of disaster had there been more people or patients inside, an eyewitness said. The eyewitness added that the hospital employee who suffered the debri, sustained minor trauma in his back and arms.
The roof of GBP Hospital’s Anesthesia room is nearly thirty years old, a separate source in the hospital administration said. It added that hospital employees complained about poor condition of the room and lack of basic amenities like safe drinking water. Suitable arrangements would be taken to repair the room, the source stated adding that a proper and modern operation theatre would be made operational in the hospital’s new building.
