Why India Is Becoming a Major AI Market

India's large internet-connected population, expanding smartphone market, growing startup ecosystem and young workforce have created favorable conditions for AI adoption.

Students increasingly use ChatGPT for research, writing, coding and exam preparation. Meanwhile, professionals and small businesses are exploring AI-powered tools for content creation, communication, marketing, customer support and productivity.

OpenAI has also expanded its presence in India through localized pricing strategies and partnerships. Its ChatGPT Go subscription, introduced at a price point below $5, was among its efforts to make AI services more accessible to Indian users.
