New Delhi, September 15, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, on September 17. The three-day event, scheduled from September 17 to 19, is set to showcase India's rapidly expanding semiconductor and electronics ecosystem and highlight the country's growing ambitions in the global technology sector.
Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, the premier conference and exhibition will bring together leading global semiconductor companies, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, researchers, academics, start-ups and students.
The theme of this year's event is “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” The theme reflects India's broader effort to develop a strong and resilient semiconductor ecosystem, from research and chip design to manufacturing and advanced electronics.
More than 600 exhibitors, including around 300 international companies, are expected to participate. The event will feature six country pavilions and 12 state-level pavilions, providing platforms for start-ups and student innovations. Around 40 start-ups are expected to showcase their work, while a dedicated pavilion will focus on women-led participation and workforce development.
The Government of India has also taken significant steps to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing. Under the semiconductor programme, 12 projects have been approved, with three projects approved during SEMICON India 1.0 already beginning commercial production.
The recently approved Semicon India 2.0 is expected to further strengthen India's capabilities in semiconductor research, innovation and design. The government is focusing on key areas needed to build a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem and reduce India's dependence on external supply chains.
SEMICON India 2026 is therefore more than an industry exhibition—it represents India's determined push to emerge as an important player in the global semiconductor value chain.
