Chennai, Dec 19 (TIWN) Japanese two wheeler company India Yamaha Motor on Thursday announced its foray into the 125cc scooter segment with two models (drum and disc brakes) and also launched a BS-VI emission norm compliant MT-15, a 155 cc motorcycle.
"The slowdown in the automotive market is temporary. The industry will soon bounce back," Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies told reporters here.
According to him, the company will expand its Blue Square retail outlet to 100 numbers in 2020.
"The focus will be on 125cc scooter segment. From January 2020 onwards we will start production of the models," Ravinder Singh, Senior vice President, Strategy & Planning, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd said.
Singh also said Yamaha will exit the 110cc scooter market.
The new Fascino 125cc scooters comes with ''Stop and Start'' system that prevents engine idling when the vehicle is not in motion and would start with a single throttle twist.
According to Singh, the company has invested about Rs.14 crore to roll out BS-VI compliant two wheelers.
