Stockholm, Oct 6 (TIWN) French author Annie Ernaux has won the the Nobel Prize in Literature for 2022 "for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory".
Ernaux, 82, believes in the liberating power of writing as she writes in uncompromising and plain language. She reveals the agony of class experience and describes humiliation, shame, jealousy, or inability to recognize who you are.
The Nobel Prize laureate in literature also considers writing a political act that can open someone’s eyes to social inequality. She uses language as her weapon, a knife that can tear apart the coverings of imagination.
