US police officer killed in armed standoff

Washington, Jan 19 (TIWN) A police officer was shot dead during an armed standoff in the US state of Ohio, authorities said.
Officer Brandon Stalker, 24, was shot and died after being taken to hospital, said Police Chief George Kral, adding that there was a warrant out for the suspect's arrest.
The incident occurred on Fulton Street at around 4 p.m. local time (0300 GMT). The police believed the suspect to be the one that had vandalized a cathedral earlier Monday morning.
The suspect, who came out with two guns after the SWAT team fired tear gas into the house, began shooting at the officers and was also taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
