AGARTALA, Jan 18 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on Thursday while addressing at 'All India Elocution Contest' at Rabindra Bhawan conducted by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, said that India must recognize Sanskrit language as national language to increase the Sanskrit uses.
"Almost all languages of India are children of Sanskrit. When Shyama Prasad Mukharjee in the Parliament raised the issue of Sanskrit's recognition as National language, it was denied saying Sanskrit is nowhere spoken in India. But if we look at Israel, they nationalized Hebrew language. At there also protest raised against Hebrew as it was 2000 years old language. But after Hebrew came in use officially, then all started to know Hebrew", said Tathagata Roy.
Talking on the unemployment issue related to Sanskrit scholars, Roy said there must be modern techniques to generate employment for Sanskrit scholars. For example translation works or descriptions like of Geeta can be such kinds of jobs.
The whole programme was done in Sankrit including the announcements.
Roy further promised, "As long as I am the Governor of Tripura, I will help to develop our Sanskrit language".
