AGARTALA, January 13 (TIWN): Like every year, two-day long Poush Sankranti Mela on the bank of river Gomati at Tirthamukh was inaugurated today by Minister Manidra Reang.
A vast number of devotees including tribal and non-tribal people arrived from all over the state and more are expected to gather in Tirthamukh in these 2 days to celebrate the programme with gaiety and enthusiasm and to take a holy dip in the Dumboor Lake.
People flock to the place to shave their head in the name of their ancestors or worship deities and perform various rituals for peace of the departed ancestors' souls, said a local source.
Trithamukh, one of the famous shrines in Tripura, is situated at a vicinity to the shrine. Dumboor Lake in Tirthamukh is situated about 58 kilometers from Udaipur and about 110 kilometers from Agartala.
A slight affect was seen in the gathering in compare to other years due to election temperament.
