AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): Ahead of Amit Shah's arrival in Tripura, Congress President Birjit Sinha has raised question, "During Congress era at Assam, CBI had targeted Himanta Biswa Sarma in Sarada chit fund scam, but after he joined BJP, why CBI is not grilling him ? What's the reason behind CBI's dwell behaviour ?"
Addressing a press meet, Sinha said, "When BJP claims about CBI's neutrality, should we know the reason behind CBI's silence with Himanta's case ? But when he was in Congress CBI interrogated him for more than once".
In 2014, the Central Bureau of Investigation examined former minister and leader of the dissident Congress camp in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, for eight hours in connection with multi-crore Saradha scam. CBI had raided his house and a news channel owned by his wife in Guwahati in August. He is accused of receiving Rs 20 lakh per month from Saradha boss Sudipta Sen for helping him run his business in Assam without hassles.
However, Tripura Congress MLA Birjit Sinha also raised question on NC Debbarma's stand on Biplab Deb's today's press meet.
"Both of them should sit in a same dais and clear before public what was the talk held among Central Ministers and IPFT leaders", added Sinha.
