AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): 5 tortoises have been recovered by Forest Dept on Wednesday from Hapania market.
But out of those 5 tortoises, 4 were already died. Forest Dept has taken the tortoises with them.
But nobody could be arrested as the illegal sellers managed to escape from the spot.
Earlier also such raids were done by forest dept, but illegal selling of tortoises are at rise. Maximum tortoises are smuggled items from Bangladesh or theft from govt property.
