Agartala, Aug 15 ( TIWN) Chief Minister Manik Sarkar unfurled the tricolour at the Assam Rifles ground and observed a colourful parade by Security forces as Tripura on Friday celebrated India's 68th Independence Day.
On the occasion, Sarkar also conferred the Police medals to Tripura Police officials.
Earlier Minister Manindra Riang, Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman visited Gandhighat , Post office chowmuhani and paid floral tributes.
Patriotic songs were reverted as the tricolour was unfurled at government offices and education institutions.
Elaborate security arrangements, including setting up of check-posts at strategic locations, have been made in and around the city for the day.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar as in usual style - rather than mentioning Nation's Martyrs like Netaji and their contribution to Nation's independence, choose the I-Day Occasion to take pot-shots at BJP and Congress.
Despite inclement weather, people came out in large numbers in Tripura to participate in Independence Day celebrations.
