AGARTALA, August 13 (TIWN): N. Darlong, DM of Khowai district imposed restriction under Section 144 CrPc across the adjacent areas within 500 metre of Indo-Bangladesh border of Khowai district.
As per the order, the civilian movements would be banned from evening 8 pm to morning 5 am around these areas. This order would be implemented from Aug 14 and shall remain in force till October 12 over the identified parts of district.
DM also said any encroachment in the area would invite action and anyone indulging against the imposed law would be prosecuted under Section 188 CrPc.
The decision was taken by the district administration after a discussion with police and revenue divisional officials. An official communiqué said this step would be helpful to curb any type of menace before Independence Day celebration on Aug 15.
Besides, police had taken extra precautionary measures for maintaining peace in the district. Adequate paramilitary forces have already been deployed in some of the locations to avoid any untoward incidents during the I-Day.
However, the order will not be applicable to security force and police deployed for the purpose of maintaining law and order in nominated areas including police super of concerned district and the district magistrate.
Any person with authorization from DM or any sick patient who needs immediate medical attention shall be free from this section.
