AGARTALA, Sep 27 (TIWN): Devotees thronged to various puja pandals on the occasion of Maha-Saptami in Tripura.
At Agartala, from Durga Bari to all puja pandals a huge number of devotees were witnessed offering prayers, bhogs to Devi Durga.
The auspicious morning had begun with instrumental sounds of ‘Dhak’ and slight fogs across the state.
Total 2,125 pujas are being conducted this year in Tripura, Tripura Police informed.
In last year total 310 puja were conducted, whereas this year it will be 2,125.
In town areas total puja areas 720 and at rural 1,405 and at Agartala 310.
Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava and Navaratri, is an annual Hindu festival in the Indian subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga. It is particularly popular in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Tripura, and the diaspora from this region.
